It's coming up to that time of year again, Christmas is only a couple of months away and you need to start thinking about gifts for those special people on your list.
If one of those people happens to be a guitar player I wanted to share with you a few ideas on unique gifts you can get them that will continue to bring them joy all year round.
Guitar Lessons
Guitar players, whether beginners or advanced, are almost always wanting to improve their skills. For beginners it's learning more techniques that will allow them to improve for advanced players it's often trying to learn a new style such as blues or jazz.
Guitar lessons are a great gift since they give the gift of knowledge and there are some great dvd courses and online videos available that can give that gift right at home.
There are guitar lesson dvds for just about every style, skill level and genre available online and most of the large online guitar lesson membership websites offer gift cards so you can prepay for several months of lessons.
Guitar Accessories
Guitar players are always in need of some accessories. Whether it be strings, picks or a capo there is no shortage of small $10-$20 dollar items you can pick up.
For beginners consider electric tuners, picks or a second set of strings for their guitar. While for more advanced players strings, a glass slide or an effects pedal would make a great gift.
Mobile Music Apps
This is the first Christmas season I've thought about giving someone a gift card to the iTunes store but now that so many people have iPod touches and iPhones it is making a lot of sense.
If you know a guitar player has an iPhone or iTouch there are some great guitar and music related apps available. A $10-$20 gift card to their app store and a nice hand written note with some application ideas would be a nice gift.
I suggest doing a bit of research online to find some of the best apps out there. One to look for is Amplitube an amp modelling app that has an optional accessory to plug your electric guitar into your iPhone or iTouch.
