What are some good mystery/suspense novels that are not too long (around 300 pages)?

What are some good mystery/suspense novels that are not too long (around 300 pages)? Smething in the veins of Perry Mason mysteries (which were written by Erle Stanley Gardner) would be great. No Dan Brown or Hadley Chase suggestions, though, because I'm already familiar with them. Thanks.
And no science-fictions, please.
