Vintage Wedding Style
Vintage is such a hot trend at the moment, especially when it comes to wedding dresses and wedding style. If you want to go the whole hog, then why not theme your entire wedding on a vintage era? Vintage brings a sense of glamour, sophistication and classic style – and luckily, because it's so popular at the moment, finding everything you need to decorate and accessorise should be easy!
First decide on which era you want to emulate – or if you want to cherry pick from several decades, decide on a colour scheme and general style you want to go for. Many couples are going for 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s themes, iconic eras that are regularly referenced in modern fashion and design. For 1920s, think flappers, pearls, lace and prohibition gangsters! You could even theme your wedding reception as a secret speakeasy… The 30s and 40s conjure up images of classic movie stars with waves in their hair and sleek chic styling. You can also be playful, with retro 50s short dresses that have lots of volume!
Vintage Wedding Dresses
Vintage wedding dresses tend to be simply but elegantly cut – sheath dresses and clean lines made from silks and lace detailing. Headpieces and veils were common in days gone by, and can complete a vintage outfit. Beading and jewelled details also feature heavily in traditional vintage gowns, though if that's not for you, you could echo this theme in your accessories instead.
This vintage-style wedding dress is by Anna Sorrano and costs just £399!
Vintage Accessories
Shoes, jewellery, bags and accessories all add to your overall vintage look. Dig through your grandma's jewellery box for inspiration, or visit some specialist vintage boutiques or thrift stores for treasures. Even your average charity shop will often have something that at least looks vintage you can buy cheaply. Pearls, brooches hats and elbow length gloves are all fair game with vintage accessorising!
Vintage Groom
Vintage style suits are also in fashion, with many options for colour, cut, accessories and shoes to match your own vintage style. You can even mix and match vintage and modern – a trend we keep seeing lately is the addition of Converse trainers to the groom and groomsmen's outfits!
Vintage Wedding Style
Your venue can add to the magic of a vintage wedding – choosing a historical building with lots of soul and decorating in appropriate style will make your guests feel like they are being transported into the past when they step through the door. A great way to bring out fantastic vintage photos is to use black and white styling so that the contrast is extra sharp in your pictures. Your photographer can also treat your photos to make them look ‘old'.
Don't forget the music – there are plenty of tribute bands and retro/vintage musicians who can add another dimension to your reception with classic tunes from your chosen era.
All the little touches really make a difference – like old-fashioned soft drinks, bottles and place settings – mini bottles of traditional lemonade or ginger beer make great vintage favours, too.
And finally, arrive and depart your vintage wedding in style, in a classic car!

Vintage kitty toy? Can't think of the brand name!?
I'm going on a ebay looking spree for some of my old toys I ust to have when I was very young that my Dad threw out.
I cannot think of the name for the life of me, but it was a toy in the early 90's and it's a pink kitten with a cherry on the bottom and smells like cherries. They have different cats, but I'm looking for the pink one. What's the brand name? I keep thinking it's "My little Kitty" under the same line as the ponies, but I'm not finding them. Help?
She's a "Little Pretty Kitty" , part of the "Perfume Pets" line and her name was Pinkums..
Here's a link to a page about them: http://www.ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Toys_LittlePretties_Perfume.htm
They were made by Mattel, while Hasbro made My Little Ponies, so the lines were not related. Hasbro did make Sweetie Pups and Sweetie Kitties around the same time. So, that could be the source of the confusion. There was a line too that WAS related to My Little Ponies, (I don't remember what the connection was) but they were called Lil Litters.
Here is a link about Sweetie Kitties made by Hasbro: http://www.ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Toys_SweetiePups_Kitties.htm
And here are Lil Litters: http://www.ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Toys_MLP_LilLitters.htm
Good luck with your search!
